about our company

Like every aspect of our business, the brand was very carefully considered and holds great meaning for us. It is intrinsic to our core values, our history and the path we now find ourselves on.

Point refers to Darlington Point where Melissa’s Mother, grandparents and great grandparents grew up. Tracing her heritage back to the Warangesda Aboriginal Mission and Brungle, Melissa fondly remembers her trips back to “the Point” with her brother and sister to share time with her grandparents and extended family.

Surrounding the delivery of unparalleled professional services, we are committed to develop our capabilities, enhancing our communities and providing fantastic opportunities for Indigenous people who work with us and engage with technology, business and government.

River refers to the mighty Murrumbidgee that flows through Darlington Point and past the Mission. The river represents our journey, starting and building our business, developing our capability, knowledge and experience and delivering outstanding constantly evolving solutions for our clients.

Finally, the river represents the flow of information, between our company and your business to ensure that we understand your requirements and you have all the information you need to make the best decisions and get the greatest results.

Networks describes the way we do business and the criticality of our connections with our clients, suppliers, business partners, community and the environment.

We aim to create a strong network of organisations and individuals that share our vision, our values, our passion and our focus on delivering amazing client outcomes, providing incredible opportunities for Indigenous people and enhancing our communities.

Melissa Lacey

Melissa is a proud Wiradjuri woman who was born and raised in Canberra. After graduating from the University of Canberra with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in 2002, Melissa completed the Public Service Indigenous Cadetship with the Department of Human Services. In 2005, Melissa took on a role with a leading accounting firm and developed robust skills in a range of financial services, eventually specialising in Internal and External Audit and Forensic Accounting services.

In 2009, Melissa returned to the public sector and took up an Assistant Director role focused on providing budgeting and financial forecasting services for a major Federal department.

Throughout her career, Melissa has aspired to build and lead a business that can be shaped by her professionalism, dedication and values. The opportunity to team up with her great friend, Sally, was too good to pass up.

“It is a fantastic feeling to take the next step and a journey that has been developing for the past 15 years. Sally and I are really looking forward to combining our strengths, intelligence and experience to set a new benchmark for professional services in Canberra through our company – Point River Networks.”

Sally Cumper

Sally started her professional journey at the tender age of 12, initially learning the ropes and developing her skills to take a leading role in the Family Investment and Finance business until she was 25 (when the company was sold to AMP).

After completing a Diploma in Information Technology (Networks and Infrastructure) and spending four years in the U.K working in technical I.T and project management roles, Sally returned to Australia and started a new System Integrator, with her husband in 2009. The business has gone from strength to strength and has been recognised as one of the fastest growing Services Integrators in Australia.

Looking for a new challenge, Sally jumped at the chance to team up with a great friend, Melissa Lacey, to establish Point River Networks.

“I am super excited to devote my skills and experience to the formation of Point River Networks and grateful for the opportunity to work with my great friend Melissa to realise her vision for the business.”
